The news did not stop in mid-September. Entity names did. For two weeks the desk stored stories and skipped the graph, so “accelerating” was a frozen photograph of mid-September. That hole is closed. Mentions now run through 2 October.
What you can read is the last two weeks of coverage, scored against the weeks before that. Not a forecast. A census with sources attached.
OpenAI and Anthropic still sit on the floor of the industry press: dozens of mentions, more than a dozen outlets. Diversity-weighted rank agrees with raw count. That is the background hum.
Claude Opus 5.5 is the other shape. It showed up about ten days ago, nineteen mentions, nine outlets. Same family: Grok 4.7, a GPT-6 cluster, Jev. Several papers, not one RSS file.
llama.cpp is the trap. Eighty mentions in the window, three sources. It looks like number two until you multiply by log of outlets, then it falls. ROCm, CUDA, KleidiAI, Snapdragon scream “accelerating” with a burst above three and one or two sources. That is a runtime week, often the same llama.cpp feed, not the market turning.
Fourteen days is the “now” knob, not the length of the archive. Burst is this fortnight versus a quieter band further back. Stretch “recent” to a quarter and Opus 5.5 dissolves into last quarter’s floor.
Read multi-source emerging as the pattern. Read high volume plus one source as a firehose until a second outlet shows up.
