Human method gate

Start small, curate AI output, and catch hallucinations before anything ships.

Purpose

NN/g’s getting-started method and the CHI survey both say the same thing: AI speeds UX work only when a human still selects, rejects, and owns quality. This workflow is the beginner gate — it wraps every later track so “faster” never silently becomes “shipped without judgment.”

Steps

1. **Pick one small UX task** — rewrite microcopy, rename a layer set, summarize one interview — not a whole product surface. 2. **Generate with a bound** — time-box or cap variants (e.g. three options). Paste the brief; do not free-prompt forever. 3. **Curate on paper** — write why each option might win; delete or park the rest. No silent “keep all.” 4. **Hallucination pass** — check facts, brand voice, a11y claims, and invented user quotes against a primary source. 5. **Exit** — either promote one option into the next workflow, or stop and record “AI not useful here.”

When to use / Skip

Use before any beginner or medium generation session, and again before a profi handoff. Skip when you are only reading Design resources or comparing vendors — then stay on `/design/sources` and do not open a generation tool.
