Browser Use

Browser Use lets agents drive real browsers: navigate, click, extract, and automate web UIs when no API exists. Open-core computer-use tooling for the web surface. Critical for observe/act against portals (permits, vendors, banks). Must run inside sandboxes with credential and exfiltration controls; treat browser sessions as high-risk tools. Browser Use is a Python framework that exposes browser state and actions to language models, with Playwright-based control, sessions, tools, and managed-browser options. Agents that use the browser. Find an available slot, pick a date and time, handle the CAPTCHA, and book a driving test.

Why it matters here

In this catalog it is the Tool Integration option when you need to call authenticated external systems from agents. Keep Browser Use on the observe/propose side of the loop: useful signals and drafts, with human or policy authority still required before anything irreversible runs.

How it works

Browser Use lets agents drive real browsers when no API exists: navigate, click, extract.

  1. Launch a browser session for the agent.
  2. Agent plans UI actions.
  3. Execute navigate/click/type/extract.
  4. Return DOM extracts or completion status.

Flow

When to reach for it

  • Use when: Browser Use lets agents drive real browsers: navigate, click, extract, and automate web UIs when no API exists matches the bottleneck and you specifically need to call authenticated external systems from agents.
  • Skip when: another pack already covers the need with less ops surface, or Browser Use would become a second place people retype truth.
  • Prefer instead: compare Selenium Grid 4, Composio before locking the cell.

Limits

  • Ops: confirm license, hosting, and release cadence for Browser Use (browser-use/browser-use) before relying on it in a live corridor.
  • Integration: bad credentials, scopes, or schema drift produce empty retrievals or runaway tool/model spend without an obvious UI alarm.
  • Scope: Tool Integration components support agents; they are not the company ledger or the approval authority.
