Burr is a Python state-machine framework for applications and agents with persistence and telemetry hooks. It offers a lighter graph/state alternative to LangGraph for some workloads. Consider when you want explicit state machines without the full LangChain ecosystem. Still need policy and ledger outside Burr’s app state. Build applications that make decisions (chatbots, agents, simulations, etc...). Monitor, trace, persist, and execute on your own infrastructure.
