Temporal coherence is consistency of goals, memory, and intent across long time spans — hours to months — not merely the ability to store tokens. The Compendium separates this from raw memory: the question is whether the agent’s plan and beliefs remain logically aligned as the world and the case evolve.
In construction ops this is the difference between an honest slip measure (approved baseline vs current timeline) and a chat that reinvented the plan every Monday.
Long cases (estimates, permits, procurements) are the product’s economic object. Without temporal coherence, the OS cannot tell stalled from slow, or baseline from thrash.
