AutoGen (Microsoft) popularized multi-agent conversation patterns: assistants, user proxies, group chats, and handoffs where agents critique and refine each other’s work. It is a strong conceptual reference for multi-actor loops and human-in-the-loop proxies. As a production OS spine it usually needs an external durable workflow engine (Temporal/Inngest/LangGraph checkpointers) because conversational multi-agent demos are not the same as recoverable case execution. Prefer it for prototyping collaboration patterns; pin execution durability elsewhere. A programming framework for agentic AI AutoGen is a framework for creating multi-agent AI applications that can act autonomously or work alongside humans. [!CAUTION] ⚠️ Maintenance Mode AutoGen is now in maintenance mode. It will not receive new features or enhancements and is community managed going forward. New users.
