What it is

CaaS (Custom Agents as a Service) platforms enable others to build, deploy, and customize agents. Per SylphAI YC methodology they are agent-enabling, not agent-being: builders, orchestration, auth, payments, eval, memory, voice infra, multi-agent frameworks.

In the 721-agent YC dump, CaaS is the minority by count but the majority of infrastructure surface area.

Why it matters

Confusing CaaS with the OS is a common error: CaaS is a market of enablers; the OS is the company-shaped runtime of truth, gates, and measurement.
